This standard specifies the determination method for pantothenic acid and calcium pantothenate in food. The first method of this standard is applicable to the determination of pantothenic acid in food, while the second method is applicable to the determination of pantothenic acid (calcium) in nutritional supplements and formula foods. Principle 2: Pantothenic acid is an essential nutrient for the growth of Lactobacillus plantarum (ATCC 8014). Under certain control conditions, the liquid of Lactobacillus plantarum is inoculated into a culture medium containing the sample solution, and after a certain period of cultivation, the transmittance (or absorbance value) is measured. The content of pantothenic acid in the sample is calculated based on the standard curve between pantothenic acid content and transmittance (or absorbance value).
