5.4.2 Iodometric method 5.4.2.1 Principle: Sodium bisulfite undergoes an addition reaction with aldehydes to generate α- Sodium hydroxysulfonate, then oxidize excess sodium bisulfite with iodine. Add 20 mL of sodium bicarbonate solution (5.4.2.3.3), slightly open the bottle stopper, shake for 0.5 min (colorless), and continue titrating with iodine standard titration solution (5.4.2.3.5) until the end point is blue purple.
