Inspection of small CNC lathes and turning centers

This standard specifies the safety requirements and/or measures for general purpose CNC lathes and turning centers (hereinafter referred to as machine tools) to eliminate hazards and reduce risks. The hazards identified in this standard are shown in Table 1 in Chapter 4. This standard applies to CNC horizontal lathes and turning centers with a maximum outer diameter of up to 500 mm and a maximum center distance of up to 2000 mm for clamping devices;... ---- CNC vertical lathes with a maximum outer diameter of 500 mm for clamping devices, machine tools with inverted spindles (including improved ones), and turning centers. Large CNC lathes and turning centers can comply with this standard or GB 22998-2008. This standard also applies to accessories that are integral parts of machine tools, such as cutting tools, chucks, workpiece loading and unloading devices, and chip removal devices. This standard also applies to lathes that form automatic machining lines or turning units, when the hazards and risks they generate are similar to those of separate machining machines. The additional methods provided in this standard are based on the standards listed in the references. This standard is applicable to single axis automatic lathes and not to multi axis automatic lathes (see EN 13788:2001). The wooden standard is not applicable to CNC lathes (without programmable controllers) that require manual control during processing related to EN 12840:2000.
