Testing of Wood (Bamboo) Materials for Food Contact

This standard specifies the determination methods of sulfur dioxide titration and colorimetry in food contact wood (bamboo) materials. This standard is applicable to the determination of sulfur dioxide in wooden (bamboo) chopsticks, bowls, and shovels. Principle 2: Acidify the sample in a sealed container and heat it for distillation to release sulfur dioxide, which is then absorbed by a lead acetate solution. After absorption, acidify with concentrated hydrochloric acid, and then titrate with iodine standard solution. Calculate the content of sulfur dioxide in the sample based on the amount of iodine standard solution consumed. Unless otherwise specified, all reagents and materials used in this method are analytical pure, and the water is Grade III water according to GB/T 6682. 3.1 Reagent 3.1.1 Hydrochloric acid (HCI). 3.1.2 Lead acetate [Pb (CH, COO): -3H, O]. 3.1.3 Iodine (Iz). 3.1.4 Soluble starch [(C HoO.).] 3.2 Reagent preparation 3.2.1 Hydrochloric acid solution (1+1, volume ratio): Take 100 mL of hydrochloric acid and carefully add it to 100 mL of water, mix well. 3.2.2 Lead acetate solution (20 g/L): Weigh 20 g of lead acetate, dissolve in a small amount of water, and dilute to 1000 mL. 3.2.3 Starch indicator (10 g/): Weigh 1g of soluble starch, mix with a small amount of water to form a paste, then slowly pour into 100 mL of boiling water. Add and stir, boil for 2 minutes, cool to room temperature for later use. This solution is now ready for use
